Link between social media and depression among young people quite worrying

Recently I read an article published in Psych Central, entitled: “Heavy use of social media linked to depression in young adults” , and what is worrying is that this article suggests that the more frequently young people make use of or ‘check’ social media, the greater the likelihood that they could become depressed and in return make more use of social media.  However, it seems that some social media platforms are providing preventative steps, such as if young people search for terms associated with depression (such as ‘depressed’, ‘suicide’) they are directed to a message asking if this is ok. I am hoping that other social media platforms follow suit!
